There is no one I’d rather stand on top of the Brooklyn Bridge with than Mikaela, especially at sunrise, in the freezing cold, with literal tears streaming down our faces from the wind, haha! A little while ago I traveled to NYC and wanted to put together a fun personal shoot. (I’m not going to tell you how long ago “a little while” was but yes I definitely thought I’d already blogged this session, oops). Photographing these just-for-me sessions is so essential in keeping my creativity alive. Personal, just-for-fun work gives me the chance to try out new techniques without any pressure. Sessions like this remind me why I fell in love with photography in the first place. And then I’m able to take that energy and put it back into my work with clients!
I photographed this entire session on film (Portra 400) and it was developed and scanned by Boutique Film Lab. Thanks to Mikaela for modeling for me, laughing with me, and being a literal goddess. Here’s to more personal work and blogging in 2020!
