I received my first ever wedding inquiry while sitting in my high school statistics class. At that point I’d had my photography business for about a year and was photographing seniors and families. The summer after I graduated high school I photographed my first few weddings, but I still never thought that I would become a wedding photographer. Fast forward seven years and 100 weddings later and I’m so thankful I surprised myself and became a wedding photographer! Photographing couples has been such a significant part of my life and it’s truly been one of my greatest joys and passions.
As I look back on these 100 weddings I feel such gratitude. When I started out I never thought I would have a successful business or make a full-time salary from this work. I didn’t know that photography would open up opportunities to travel around the world or that my closest friends would be fellow photographers. I didn’t know how inspiring and kind my couples would be, and how they would teach me so much about love and marriage.
If you have been a part of the Amilia Photography family in any way these past many years, thank you thank you thank you. You all are the reason I continue with this work. I have literally hundreds of meaningful, memorable, and hilarious moments that I’ve gotten to experience with you throughout the years. Weddings sometimes get a bad rap for being a frivolous way to spend money. And not everyone has to spend a lot on a wedding! But let me tell you, in my work as a therapist I sit with some of the most painful parts of being human. I am so encouraged and thankful that we have weddings, where we celebrate happiness and pretty things and love.
I’m not sure if I’ll photograph another 100 weddings–we’ll see what the future brings. But for now I am certainly continuing to photograph the most amazing couples. If that’s you, get in touch! I have openings for 6 more weddings in 2020. I hope you enjoy 100(ish) of my favorite moments throughout the years.
